students involved in community serviceOnce a student becomes a part of the Diversity Scholars Program he or she is encouraged to participate in a wide variety of university sponsored events and clubs in order to support all initiatives aiding the university in enhancing diversity on campus. Diversity Scholar's involvement on campus can benefit the university by sharing the values and ideas instilled by the Diversity Scholars Program. These scholars have a unique chance to spread unity and their values to many different organizations on campus including student government, athletics, Greek life, intramurals, and any of the many other groups at Appalachian State University. Diversity Scholars are constantly pushed to better themselves along with the student body as a whole. In an effort to help better the campus and greater community, Diversity Scholars are expected to provide fifteen (15) hours of community service per semester.
